The third annual Lakefest and Cardboard Boat Regatta returned to Atascadero Lake Park on Saturday. The event was hosted by the Friends of Atascadero Lake, which is a non-profit dedicated to the maintenance and enhancement of the lake.
In recent years, the extreme drought had left the lake bone dry but when the water returned, so did the lake fest.
"This whole park is absolutely beautiful with the zoo… with the veterans memorial, with the park itself, with the water, you know with the things you can do on the lake, stand up paddle boarding, the peddle boats they’ve got there. Anyone can bring their stand up paddle board, canoes, kayaking… It’s just great.", said Nancy Hair, a volunteer for the event.
Festival events included cardboard boat and stand up paddleboard races, music, two-for-one zoo tickets, a beer garden, activities for kids as well as food and vendors.
