A multiple-fatality crash was reported on Highway 166 near New Cuyama Sunday evening.
The crash was reported on Highway 166 and Hubbard Avenue just at after 4 p.m.
Santa Barbara County Fire says an oil tanker truck hit a Honda sedan head-on. One woman was ejected from the Honda. Both the woman and a man who were in the Honda at the time of the crash were pronounced dead on arrival.
The woman was ejected from the car. The driver of the oil tanker was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
Units from CHP, two engines from Santa Barbara County Fire and a CALSTAR helicopter responded to the crash.
Drivers are urged to use caution in the area. The highway was temporarily shut down but is expected to reopen shortly.
