The Santa Barbara County coroner has identified the two people killed in a crash on Highway 166 Sunday as Jimmy Riley, 52, of Solvang and Ronamarie Molon, 34, of Santa Maria.

The crash was reported near New Cuyama just after 4 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two were killed when Riley, who was driving a Honda Civic headed eastbound, drove into the path of an oncoming truck that was hauling a tanker trailer. The truck driver was unable to move out of the way and the two vehicles collided head-on

Molon, the passenger in the Civic, was ejected from the vehicle. Officers say neither she nor Riley were wearing their seatbelts. Both died at the scene.

The truck driver reportedly sustained minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating what caused Riley to cross over into westbound traffic.
