The holiday weekend has already begun at the Oceano Dunes.
State Parks estimates thousands of visitors will enjoy the dunes for the three-day weekend.
Visitors come to camp, ride the dunes, kite-board, surf and fish.
Camping on the beach is sold out for this weekend, however 2,500 passes a day will be issued for day-use areas.
State Parks plans to monitor the dunes, the nearby North Beach campground, and the Oceano campground to keep visitors safe and make sure everyone is following the rules.
Ambulance crews, lifeguards, and search and rescue crews will be around and at the ready in case of emergencies.
