A 20-year-old man was arrested Saturday for commercial burglary in San Luis Obispo and in connection to the loss of more than $90,000 of Apple merchandise across two states.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department says a report of a man stealing a display phone at the Apple Store at 899 Higuera St. and was last seen running east on Higuera Street in the afternoon hours.

A bicycle officer was patrolling the area at the time and found Aaron Marcuslee Searcy running near the intersection of Marsh and Osos streets.

The officer eventually caught Searcy, who police say had seven iPhones in his possession – a value of more than $7,500 – and each had sounded security alarms.

SLOPD says Searcy was also reportedly involved in similar thefts in Nevada and other parts of California. Apple’s regional loss and prevention team says those losses are estimated to cost more than $90,000.

Searcy was booked into the county jail for charges of burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, resisting an arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.

KSBY has requested Searcy’s mugshot. This story will be updated.
