Residents of the Good Samaritan shelter in Santa Maria have some new bikes and a secure place to store them thanks to a donation from Leadership Santa Maria Valley (LSMV).
The LSMV Class of 2018 donated five bikes with helmets and a storage cage to the shelter on West Morrison Ave. on Wednesday.
The goal of the project, nicknamed "Bikes For Success," is to give the shelter’s residents a safe place to store their bikes as they work to move out of the shelter and transition into new lives.
Leadership Santa Maria Valley is an 11-month leadership program for community members. Each class gives back to the community with its own unique "Legacy Project."
