A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary Sunday morning after being caught inside a home in Montecito.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner walked in on a teenager she didn’t know inside her home on the 300 block of Woodley Road.

The juvenile was allegedly using her computer, trying to make online purchases using her credit cards. The teen was asked to leave and complied, but not before he took the homeowners’ credit cards, jewelry, and medication.

Deputies booked the 17-year-old into the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall on a $50,000 bail.

Investigators believe the juvenile may have been involved in burglaries in the community of Isla Vista. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 805-681-4100.
