UPDATE (12:35 a.m.) – Election night results as of 12:30 a.m. show Carbajal with 56,523 votes, Fareed with 39,333 votes and Woody with 11,155 votes. Ballot counting will continue on Wednesday morning.
UPDATE (10:50 p.m.) – Updated election results show Carbajal with 41,870 votes, Fareed with 29,217 votes and Woody with 8,624 votes.
Early election night results show a face-off between incumbent Democratic Congressman Salud Carbajal and Republican Justin Fareed in November.
With 8% of precincts reporting, Carbajal has received 38,216 votes, or about 51%. Fareed has 28,288 votes, which is approximately 38% of the vote.
Republican Michael Erin Woody has netted 8,313 votes so far, or about 11%.
The top two candidates advance to the general election on Nov. 6 regardless of party.
