Initial returns on Tuesday show Measure T, a cannabis tax for businesses in Santa Barbara County, looking likely to pass.
As of 9:30 p.m., "yes" votes made up 77 percent of the vote. The measure needs a simple majority to pass.
Measure T would place a one percent tax on cannabis nurseries and distributors, a three percent tax on manufacturers, a four percent tax on cultivators, and a six percent tax on retailers and micro businesses within unincorporated areas of the county. If passed, it’s expected to raise $5 million to $25 million per year.
