Cal Poly grads start early morning celebration at downtown bars

Cal Poly graduates were up early Saturday morning, participating in festivities at local bars in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Many woke up as early as 4 a.m. to ‘cheers’ their fellow graduates, saying the early wake-up call was worth the celebration.

"You know what? We are proud to be graduating from Cal Poly, its such an accomplishment. It’s so awesome, so yeah I’m going to celebrate. I’m going to get up at 4 a.m. and come to the bars at 6 a.m."

Besides traffic congestion and a few intoxicated people, officials with the San Luis Obispo Police Department say it was an ‘uneventful’ morning.

Cal Poly and UCSB will both host more graduation ceremonies on Sunday.
