4 registered sex offenders found out of compliance in Santa Barbara County

Posted

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives conducted surveillance and compliance checks on 81 sex offenders registered in Goleta, Carpinteria, Montecito, Summerland and unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara on June 15-16.

Sheriff’s officials say the purpose behind the compliance checks is to ensure accurate information is provided during the registration process and to maintain supervision of the offenders in the community.

Of the 81 registered sex offenders who were checked upon, sheriff’s officials say 57 were found to be in compliance, 20 were not home and unable to be contacted, and four were found to be out of compliance, prompting further investigation. One warrant arrest was made for a non-sex offender warrant.

Sheriff’s officials say they’ll be conducting similar sweeps on an ongoing basis to verify that registered sex offenders are in compliance with the terms of their probation or parole.
