Santa Maria’s Paul Nelson Aquatic Center is open for the summer.
From now through August 10, the aquatic center’s 50-meter and recreation pools will be open seven days a week from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Admission is free for children five-years-old and younger, $1.50 for children 6 to 16, and $3 for those 17 and older. An annual pass for up to six family members is $58.
The Recreation and Parks Department expects a busy summer at the pool.
"Especially at the beginning of summer, especially when the kids are excited after school ends, before families plan their trips they’re going to be taking over the summer, we get a lot of crowds," said Diana Borjas, Facility Specialist, Paul Nelson Aquatic Center.
A free swimming lesson will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 2 p.m. as part of the "World’s Largest Swimming Lesson," an effort to prevent drowning. For more information, call (805) 925-0951 ext. 2252.
