San Luis Obispo rolled out the barrels, of wine that is, for Barrels in the Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo Thursday night.
Barrels in the Plaza kicked of the official start of summer with a community wine tasting next to Mission Plaza.
Organizers showcased local wines from San Luis Obispo, food made by local chefs and live music.
There was even a demonstration of how to toast a barrel to produce a uniquely flavored wine. Salvador Canchola showed attendees how to build, shape and toast a barrel using seasoned French oak.
