More warming for the inland valleys

Friday will be another day of triple-digit temperatures for the inland valleys. As high pressure continues to build over the west, daytime highs for the interior portions of the Central Coast are still ranging from the upper 90s to the low 100s. These temperatures will drop by about five degrees by Saturday and then another five by Sunday.

The relief from the heat will be towards the coastline where temperatures will be much different. The coastal valleys are still hanging around in the upper 70s to low 80s, while the beaches will be mostly in the upper 60s to the mid-70s. Marine layer is hanging onto the coastline throughout the morning before afternoon clearing. Northwesterly winds will push fog to the coastal valleys but clearing will happen for those areas by the late morning.

Northwesterly winds will range from about 10-20 miles per hour Friday, but wind gusts could reach 25 mph, especially for areas like Lompoc. Expect breezy conditions throughout the Central Coast much of the afternoon and into the evening hours.
