Deputies search for suspect after man was stabbed at homeless camp in Goleta

A man was reportedly stabbed at a homeless encampment in Goleta Friday night. 

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the report around 10:22 p.m. at the railroad tracks near Patterson Avenue and Highway 101. 

Deputies say a 29-year-old had a severe stab wound on his stomach. He was then rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. 

The sheriff’s office says his condition is unknown, but he is expected to survive. 

The man was reportedly sleeping when he was stabbed, and he told deputies he did not know who attacked him.
