A lawsuit was filed against a Paso Robles school district over a car crash that happened in late May

According to the court listing, a 17-year-old Liberty High School student is suing the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District after she was hit by an unlicensed 16-year-old boy driving a GMC Yukon on May 31.

Police say the boy turned out of the high school parking lot while speeding, eventually lost control, went off the road and crashed into a signal light control box before hitting the girl.

The lawsuit claims the driver was not properly licensed and "was known to drive recklessly," which lead to him losing control and hitting the girl.

It is unknown if the boy has been charged with anything. No names were released due to being a minor.

KSBY reached out to the school district for comment but have not heard back yet.
