Triple-digit temps won’t stop Circus Vargas performers in SLO

Triple-digit temperatures are not stopping performances under the big top in San Luis Obispo.

Circus Vargas says the show must go on. There are two to three shows scheduled each day through the weekend, with the final show happening Monday night.

There is air conditioning in the tent and in the performers’ trailers to keep everyone comfortable.

"You try to do your best and it doesn’t really matter in the heat," said Steven Ferrerei, performer. "It’s still harder with the heat, but it’s fine."

This year’s theme is Dreaming of Pirates. "So many people dream to run away with the circus. This is an opposite dream. It’s about a little clown," Katya Quiroga with Circus Vargas told KSBY on opening day. "He actually dreams of becoming a pirate. He doesn’t want to be in the circus."
