Governor Jerry Brown declared a State of Emergency Saturday for Santa Barbara County due to the Holiday Fire

The fire as of Saturday morning had burned 60 acres and was 5 percent contained.

It was estimated that 20 structures had been destroyed, half of them believed to be homes.

The emergency proclamation comes after Santa Barbara County proclaimed a local emergency due to the fire.

County officials say the local proclamation ensures that all county resources are available for the firefighting efforts. It also helps facilitate potential state funding and a state declaration of emergency.

State of emergencies have also been declared this week by Governor Brown in San Diego and Siskiyou counties due to fires.
