More than 40 birds and 390 animals total from the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network are safe from the destruction after the Holiday Fire ripped through a Goleta neighborhood.

The center still stands but has been scorched around the edges, according to employees.

A temporary shelter has been set up for the birds at the humane society where they continue to recover and rehabilitate from their previous conditions.

A GoFundMe page was started and has already raised more than $5,000.

Donations will go to medicines, food for animals in their care, repairs to infrastructure, and more.
