Building permits were just issued for the newest hotel in Atascadero.
A Hilton Homes2 Suites hotel with 120 suite-style rooms will be constructed north of Del Rio Road, between Highway 101 and El Camino Real.
Currently there is an old home on the site, which will be relocated to a property owned by the Atascadero Historical Society, next to the Public Library.
The hotel was approved by the Planning Commission earlier this year. Construction is expected to start soon.
This will be the first project to start construction in the area known as the Del Rio Commercial Area Specific Plan.
