Morning marine layer, fog with afternoon clearing

Microclimate weather is really showing on Thursday as daytime highs begin to vary between cities. At the coast, the morning marine layer and fog is a factor in the morning and through the early afternoon. Daytime highs will range from the low 60s to low 70s with breezy conditions.

Further, into the coastal valleys, morning fog will hang around through the early morning ahead of clearing. Daytime highs will be warmer from the mid-70s to upper 80s in certain areas. Move further inland to the interior valleys and that’s where temperatures are still hot and in the low 90s. Temperatures will heat up slightly for the inland valleys heading into the weekend as high pressure begins to build on Friday but it isn’t looking like temperatures will reach triple digits.

Monsoonal moisture will likely reach California on Thursday, but it’s likely it will only touch down in the form of light showers in the mountains in Los Angeles County.
