The Morro Bay Aquarium is set to close September 30, 2018, after 50 years of operation.

In order to prepare for the aquarium’s full closure in the fall, it’s given up possession of its marine animals. According to an employee of the Morro Bay Aquarium, their two sea lions, Maggie and Hera, and harbor seal, Smokey, have been transported to their new home at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California.

The animals will be released into "Seal Cove," an exhibit where guests will be able to feed and watch the animals, just like the Morro Bay Aquarium allowed visitors to do.

While the aquarium is now animal-free, the gift shop will remain open until September 30.
