Deputies released the identity of the man who was killed after an Amtrak train hit him Thursday in Montecito.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says 50-year-old Rogelio Perez was hit by a train near Highway 101 and Olive Mill Road.
The conductor reported seeing Perez on the tracks and immediately began trying to brake hard enough, but the conductor couldn’t stop the train in time.
Deputies are still investigating the incident, although they believe it was an accident.
