Singer Demi Lovato hospitalized after apparent drug overdose

Pop star Demi Lovato was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Tuesday after an apparent drug overdose.The singer, 25, was rushed from her home in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where sources told NBC News she was stable, alert and breathing. The sources say first responders used naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, which is used to reverse the effects of an overdose.The news was first reported by TMZ, which said Lovato had overdosed on heroin.This comes just two days after Lovato performed with Iggy Azalea at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles on Sunday, July 22. Some people who attended the concert said Lovato appeared to struggle at times during the show.Fair officials released the following statement Tuesday afternoon: "The California Mid-State Fair staff, CEO and Board of Directors were stunned to hear today’s news regarding Demi Lovato. Our prayers and thoughts are with her and we wish her a speedy recovery.
