Cal Poly admin building evacuated, closed due to asbestos

The Cal Poly Administration Building is closed after asbestos was released during construction work, the university says.Facilities Management and Development department told employees working in the Administration Building Tuesday afternoon they needed to evacuate the building for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure.   Cal Poly Communications Specialist Cynthia Lambert tells KSBY News the building was closed around 4 p.m. Tuesday and remained closed Wednesday for further investigation and cleanup.This notice was left for employees:EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Recent construction activity in Building 1 has released a small amount of asbestos containing material onto the second floor causing Facilities Management and Development to be abundantly cautious and close the entire building until further investigation and cleanup is performed.A sign outside the building says it will reopen Thursday.
