Authorities have identified the driver killed in a head-on crash on Highway 46 in northern San Luis Obispo County Wednesday morning as Chan Kee Chung, 58, of Rowland Heights. The California Highway Patrol reports Chung was driving a 2000 Acura 3.2TL westbound on Highway 46 at about 55 miles per hour when his vehicle was hit head-on by a military vehicle driven by a 49-year-old man from San Bernardio. Officers say it appears a tire blew out on the military vehicle shortly before 7:45 a.m., causing that vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic. Chung was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the military vehicle were reportedly treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital and released. Officers say drugs or alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors in the crash. Original story:1 dead in head-on crash involving military vehicle near Cholame ‘Y’
