Five people were rescued Sunday morning in a remote area of the Los Padres National Forest near Cuyama.
Santa Barbara Fire says search and rescue crews were dispatched to the Miranda Pines Campground at 11 p.m. Saturday to find five "overdue" hikers.
No moon or light and rough terrain made the search longer than usual.
Two men were pulled aboard a helicopter and three others were found by another helicopter. The full rescue was completed by 7 a.m. Sunday.
Once the men were rescued, they were taken to a nearby hospital because they were suffering from dehydration and disorientation. It’s unknown how long they were missing before the rescue was initiated.
