Beginning Wednesday, August 15, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office will offer "walk-ins" for Live Scan fingerprinting once a week at the Santa Barbara and Santa Maria stations.

No appointment is necessary and walk-ins will be accepted on a first come, first served basis between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Live Scan fingerprint stations are available to assist the public for the purposes of pre-employment. The service can transmit your fingerprints to the California State Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The following documents are needed in order to perform the Live Scan service:

  • Live Scan request form completed by the agency or person who is requesting you be fingerprinted
  • Photo identification
  • Cash (no credit cards or checks). If you have a billing number, the cost is $7. Without a billing number, the cost is as follows:
    • DOJ – $39
    • DOJ & FBI – $56
    • DOJ & FBI related to children – $81

Appointments can still be made for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at both locations. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, call (805) 681-4357 for the Santa Barbara station or (805) 934-6175 for the Santa Maria station.
