Students are filling up their backpacks and getting ready to return to the classroom for a new school year.
Community college students at Allan Hancock College will be welcomed back Tuesday with the school’s annual event, Hancock Hello.

The college will welcome the inaugural class of the Hancock Promise as well as new students.
Allan Hancock College launched the Hancock Promise last summer to provide a year of free tuition and fees to students who graduate from a district high school.
During the welcome event, student will be able to tour campus, get their student ID cards and learn about student clubs.
More than 500 first-year students are expected to attend Tuesday’s event.
