Kids in Santa Barbara can experience a hands-on mock robotic surgery at Cottage Hospital this Friday.
Anyone age 13 and older is welcome to register for the event and watch how surgeons use the da Vinci robotic system to operate on patients.
Kids will get the chance to compete and show off their surgery skills in a simulated one-minute operation. Those with the highest scores will win prizes. The grand prize is a PlayStation 4.
Participants will be able to move the robot’s arms, play with the instruments and experience what surgeons see and feel when they use the robot to operate.
Registration for the event is now open. It goes from 2-4 p.m. Friday in the Burtness Auditorium at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
