CAL FIRE is getting new equipment to help speed the response to wildfires.
Helitanker 793 arrived at the Paso Robles Air Attack Base Thursday morning. It is a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane.
The aircraft was designed for the U.S. Army in the 1960s, but it is now one of the main water carriers at wildfires across California.
Firefighters say the Helitanker can pick up 2,000 gallons of water in less than a minute.
Most recently, the helicopter was used at the Holy Fire in Southern California and at the Ferguson Fire in Yosemite National Park.
The Helitanker will stay with CAL FIRE on the Central Coast for the rest of the firefighting season.
