SMPD: Investigators search for more details, victims of suspected child molester

A man was recently arrested for child molestation in Santa Maria, according to the Santa Maria Police Department, and investigators said Monday they are looking for more information that could lead to potential victims or other crimes.

Santa Maria Police say 80-year-old Benjamin Hernandez was charged with child molestation. According to the jail log, he was arrested on Aug. 14, and was given a set bail of $1 million. 

Due to the nature of the charges, SMPD says they are looking for more information on this crime and potential victims from the public.
