Annual Chumash Charity Golf Classic raises funds for local organizations

Three local nonprofits are bringing in extra funding thanks to the 14th annual Chumash Charity Golf Classic.

The two-day golf tournament raises money for the American Cancer Society, Domestic Violence Solutions, and the Search Dog Foundation. Some of the proceeds go toward the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians’ Technology in Schools program.

Organizers say the hard work pays off. "Fundraising is always tough for many different organizations, but awareness to remind people that they are there, remind people about the hard work that needs to be done, and just remind them that there’s a lot of different issues that need to be taken care of," said Kenneth Kahn, Chairman of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.

About 100 golfers attended this year’s event.
