Firefighters quickly gain control of brush fire in Santa Barbara

A fire burned about 1.5 acres of brush in Santa Barbara on Thursday afternoon.

It broke out at around 5:30 p.m. near Salvar Road and Via Chaparral.

By 5:45 p.m., fire officials said forward progress of the fire had been stopped and no evacuations were necessary. The firefighting planes and dozers that were ordered to help battle the blaze were canceled.
