Cal Trans said in a press release that there will be some overnight closures on Highway 101 at Olive Mill Road in Santa Barbara County for the bridge rail replacement project.

There will be several closures from Sunday night to Thursday morning.

People driving on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County can expect road closures at:

Highway 101 South will be closed at Olive Mill Road from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. The highway will be closed at Olive Mill Road going north on Tuesday from 10 p.m. to Wednesday at 5 a.m.  Anyone driving this way can take a detour from Olive Mill Road via the Hot Springs Road exit and Coast Village Road.

The second right lane on the 101 South will be closed from Olive Mill Road to San Ysidro Road Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday for tree trimming. Cal Trans said cutting the trees is supposed to help increase the sight distance of people driving.

The Highway 101 South off-ramp at Olive Mill Road will be closed Tuesday from 10 p.m. until 5 p.m Wednesday as well as the San Ysidro Road off-ramp on the 101 south.

Aside from these road closures, there will be one-way reversing traffic control on the Olive Mill Road overcrossing from Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. There will also be one-way traffic on Olive Mill Road going north towards Coast Village Road on the U.S. 101 the morning of Sept. 5 for four months. Local traffic can detour by taking the San Ysidro Road exit off Highway 101 North or by taking the Milpas Street exit.

These road closures are replacing the bridge rails that were damaged during the Montecito flooding in January.
