The Santa Maria Public Library and its branches in Cuyama, Guadalupe, Los Alamos, and Orcutt will close for one day this week for staff training.

The libraries will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 29, reopening as usual on Thursday, Aug. 30.

"When we close for all-staff day, our staff can come together and talk about the jobs we do – if there’s better ways to do things, how we can better serve our public, and look at new programs that will make us even more attractive to our community," said Mary Housel, City of Santa Maria Librarian.

During the closure, the library’s website will remain operational and exterior book return drop boxes will be available and open at all locations. Library items may also be renewed by calling 1-800-354-9660.
