RISE Awards honor community service of Central Coast residents, organizations

Central Coast residents and organizations are getting honored for their excellence in community service supporting sexual abuse, sexual assault and involvement in partner violence programs at the 2018 RISE UP Awards. 

San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow, Malani Anderson of Turley Wine Cellars, McPhee’s Grill and Stand Strong are getting the 2018 RISE Awards at the Wine Women and Shoes event Sunday. 

The awards honor people who work directly with survivors in the criminal justice system, social services and partner agencies. 

According to a RISE press release the awards were given to these individuals for: 

  • Dan Dow: advocacy and support for survivors. 
  • Malani Anderson: seven years of generous support as a volunteer and community partner. 
  • McPhee’s Grill: donating, hosting and supporting several RISE events.
  • Stand Strong: providing robust, essential programs and services for local victims of domestic violence.

The awards will be given at the 4th Annual Wine Women andShoes event at the Avila Beach Club. 

The event is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit RISE programs.
