Caltrans is trying to have a local bridge recognized as the best transportation project in America.
The Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge in Big Sur is one of 12 projects across the country competing for the Socrata People’s Choice Award.
Construction crews reconstructed the bridge after it collapsed last year, cutting off access through Big Sur.
Crews put the bridge back together in eight months, though the process was projected to take as long as eight years.
