Santa Barbara County has a new undersheriff.
Solomon "Sol" Linver was sworn in as the new undersheriff at a ceremony on Monday.
Linver has worked for the sheriff’s office for 34 years and has led the Criminal Investigations Division, the Special Investigations Bureau, the Operations Support Division, and has served as the Chief of Law Enforcement Operations for the past year. He’s also credited with helping design the Isla Vista sheriff’s station.
The outgoing undersheriff, Bernard Melekian, is starting a new job at the County Executive Office as assistant county executive officer for public safety.
Also at Monday’s ceremony, Craig Bonner was promoted to Chief Deputy of Law Enforcement Operations, Kevin Huddle was promoted to Commander of South County Operations, Gary Wilberding was promoted to sergeant, and Matthew Frenske was promoted to sergeant.
Several sheriff’s office staff members were also recognized for promotions.
