Bike paths along Highway 246 are about to get a lot smoother.

On September 17th, Cal Trans will be starting a resurfacing project of the bike lanes along the 246. Areas from east of Alamo Pintado road to west of Refugio road in Solvang will be smoothed out and repaired.

Cal Trans estimates this project will take a few weeks to complete but they say the traffic impact to drivers will be minimal.

Pedestrians will have to use the shoulder of the highway once construction is underway.

Taylor Jane Construction of Nipomo was contracted for this project. It’s estimated to cost $180,000.
