Atascadero police are investigating a robbery at the Tastee-Freez restaurant on Montecito Ave.
It happened at about 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Police say the restaurant employee reported being sprayed in the face with an unknown chemical. They say the robber then ran out of the business with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police officers, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter searched the area but were unable to find the robber.
The employee was taken to the hospital for treatment.
