Santa Barbara police are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body in the yard of a home on Clearview Rd.
Police say the new homeowners moved in about two weeks ago and were doing yard work Friday afternoon when they discovered the body.
The homeowners had reportedly noticed an unpleasant smell but didn’t know where it was coming from until they found the body.
Police say the remains are so badly decomposed that they’re unable to tell at this time whether it is male or female.
Investigators and the coroner’s office are reportedly at the scene working to identify the body and determine cause of death. At this point, police say there is nothing to indicate that the death is suspicious.
