Firefighters are responding to a small brush fire near the California Men’s Colony.

The fire started Friday afternoon. CAL FIRE says about an acre burned, and forward progress of the fire was stopped.  Firefighters are expected to stay on scene and monitor the fire for a couple hours.  There are five engines, a water tender, and a hand crew at the scene.

Cal Poly’s Department of Emergency Management tweeted that the campus was being impacted by small amounts of smoke caused by the brush fire.

KSBY has a crew headed to the scene and will provide updates as soon as they become available.
