Coca-Cola’s efforts to diversify could take it into cannabis territory.
A Coca-Cola spokesman tells Bloomberg News that the company is monitoring the still-emerging area of cannabis-infused drinks.
Those drinks contain CBD, the non-psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that might help treat pain but doesn’t get you high.
Bloomberg says Coca-Cola is in talks with Canadian marijuana producer Aurora Cannabis, Inc. to develop such beverages but there is no assurance that the talks will produce a deal.
Other beverage makers have had similar discussions recently. Molson Coors Brewing has a deal with a Canadian company to develop cannabis drinks in Canada.
