Santa Barbara County seeks donations for 7th Annual Veterans Stand Down event

Giving back to local veterans, Santa Barbara County will hold it’s 7th Annual Veterans Stand Down event next month.

A variety of services will be offered to veterans including hot food, showers, clothing, hygiene items and medical examinations.

Clothing Collection begins Wednesday, September 26 at Santa Maria Fair Park.

Participants can drop off new clothing items every Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. until October 17.

Specific needs for our veterans include: New bath towels (not beach towels); wash cloths; blankets; toothbrushes and toothpaste; new men’s and women’s T-shirts; underwear; shoes; baby diapers; small size shampoo; bar soap and hangers. 

Also needed are wet and dry cat and dog food; nylon buckle collars and 6-foot-long leashes for the Veteran Pet Zone.

Although it’s geared toward homeless veterans, all veterans are welcome to the event on October 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

Organizers are seeking sponsors and volunteers for this years event.

Pre-registration is now online for veterans wanting to sign-up for the day.
