Santa Maria’s only pumpkin patch officially opens Thursday.
On Wednesday, a group of 20 adults and children were the first to visit The Patch at Las Flores Ranch Park as part of a special sneak peek.
Marian Regional Medical Center hosted a raffle to raise money for its pediatrics department, and the raffle winners were able to attend Wednesday’s private, pre-opening event.
The winners picked pumpkins and explored the corn maze. Some popular features at the patch were made possible by students from the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
“The great thing is that we get to be here today and support the local students and all of their hard work growing these pumpkins, and we get to support our local hospital and what they are doing for pediatrics,” said Jason Diani, a raffle winner.
Community members can begin looking for their own pumpkins at The Patch starting at 10 a.m. Thursday.
