Teach Elementary School of San Luis Obispo was awarded a top honor by the U.S. Department of Education as they earned the 2018 Blue Ribbon Schools Award on Monday.
The prestigious distinction was categorized under the terms of an Exemplary High Performing School. Teach was the only school in San Luis Obispo County that received the award.
This also marks the only time any school within the Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties that has won the award three separate times. Teach has been awarded the Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 1992 and 2012, as well as in 2018.
Teach Elementary School hosts grades four through six as a school of choice for students.
The school will celebrate the honor with a field day scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. and at a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 7.
