Solvang’s fire department unveiled a brand new piece of equipment during a reception and open house at Station 30 on Monday.

The station’s new aerial ladder engine cost a total of $1.2 million and will be used by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The truck revealing was hosted with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, tribal leadership, County Fire officials, government officials, local dignitaries and members of the community. They all attended to see the new ladder truck and the station.

“We certainly have some facilities in the community that, god forbid we need equipment like this, having the extended ladder really helps out,” said Kenneth Kahn, Chairman of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
