The Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District announced the beginning of $1 passes for downtown and waterfront routes on Monday.

For passengers looking to make their travel more affordable, the MTD brought out its new day pass for downtown and waterfront shuttles. Each day pass bought at just $1 allows guests to ride on the eco-friendly battery-electric shuttles for an unlimited amount of times throughout the day of purchase.

“We are excited to offer an even easier way to enjoy State Street and the Waterfront. Whether you are shopping, visiting the Zoo, or enjoying a meal in the harbor, you can park once and rely on the shuttle to get you to your destination,” said Jerry Estrada, General Manager of Santa Barbara MTD.

The new day passes are only available for the downtown and waterfront shuttles, and passes that aren’t used do not expire.  The day passes will be available for purchase at the MTD transit center and administrative offices located in Santa Barbara. Other locations to buy the passes, including the Visitor Center, hotels and museums, will be announced soon.
