Chris Berdoll, the Atascadero teacher accused of producing child pornography, has officially resigned his position as a teacher at the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy.

Berdoll was arrested September 10. The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office says it has identified 20 victims related to this case.

The Atascadero Unified School District took the formal action of accepting his resignation at a board meeting Tuesday night. Berdoll’s resignation is effective September 27, the week he was charged with 44 counts of possessing child pornography and using underage children to pose for pornographic pictures.

School District officials said they have completed a comprehensive internal investigation and formally reported their findings to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, which will take over the investigation into Berdoll’s teaching credentials.

Administrators said a permanent teacher has been assigned to replace Berdoll and that counseling services remain available for students and staff throughout the school district.

Berdoll has not entered a plea. His arraignment was continued until October 18. A judge will also consider a motion to increase his bail, after Berdoll posted his previous $500,000 bail and released from custody.
